Our Mission

We desire to increase awareness of the orphan situation in our community and around the world, communicate God’s heart for orphans, and provide Christ-centered support and direction for those interested in joining His call to care for orphans. (James 1:27)

History

Promise 14:18 began in 2011 as a passion of some families at Bayside who’s lives had been touched by adoption. We knew what a blessing adoption was in our lives and wanted others to know this joy of adoption as well. As we began planning to create this ministry we were captivated by God’s heart for orphans and that is why we feature areas of support for not only adoption, but orphan care and foster care as well. All three areas are intricately connected to caring for “the least of these” in our community and world.

For the Body

Our goal is to inform others of the various ways to get involved in adoption, orphan care, and foster care because caring for orphans is vital to our call as His people. James 1:27 states, “Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world.” While not all families are called to adopt, serve at an orphanage, or provide foster care, one thing is certain: our responsibility as part of God’s family to care for orphans is not optional. Every person can do something. Nothing is too small when we are ministering to those who have nothing.

For the Community

Because there are few ministries in our area that focus on orphan care, we desire to be a resource for the community by providing information, resources, and support to all who ask. We are also seeking opportunities to connect with local organizations, churches, and city governments to further the cause of orphan care in the Twin Ports community.

How We Got Our Name

The name Promise 14:18 is based on the promise that God provides in John 14:18 where Jesus says “I will not leave you as orphans; I will come to you.”
